How to Harvest History — 2/2-2/3

February 2, 2018 - February 3, 2018

A talk and workshop with Rebecca Wingo, Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Liberal Arts at Macalester College (PhD, History, University of Nebraska-Lincoln), author of Homesteading the Plains: Toward a New History (University of Nebraska Press, 2017).

The History Harvest is a community-based, student-driven archive project. Members of a community partner group bring artifacts of significance and trained students record their stories and digitize the artifacts for an online archive. In class, students edit audio, establish metadata, and upload the items to Omeka, an archival content management system that can create online exhibits.

Public talk: February 2, 4-5:30pm. Burling Library, Grinnell

Workshop (registration required): February 3, 10am-1pm. DLab, Grinnell Forum
